  Reasons to Study Angels

An excerpt from "Touched By An Angel"                Available through this site.

Angels are innumerable.

"But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels"
Hebrews 12:22

Angels are mentioned in 59 Bible books, every book with the exception of Ruth, Esther, Nehemiah, James, and John's epistles.

The empire of angels is as vast as God's creation. They are mentioned directly or indirectly nearly 300 times.  David recorded 20,000 of them coursing through the skyways of the stars. (Psalm 68:17)

Ten thousand angels came down on Mt. Sinai to confirm the holy presence of God as He gave the law to Moses (Deuteronomy 33:2)

In the New Testament, John tells us of having seen ten thousand times ten thousand angels ministering to the Lamb of God in the throne room of the universe. This phrase means more than just numbers. It speaks of an infinite number of angels. The Bible tells us that twelve legions, or 72,000 angels, could have been called to the cross to rescue Jesus.

Angels are immortal.

This means simply that "angels ain't saints". They are not glorified human beings. They are a company, not a race.
"For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage,
but are like angels of God in heaven."Matthew 22:30

Angels are nor heirs of God. They cannot testify of salvation by grace through faith. They cannot sing...

"Shackled by a heavy burden,
Neath the load of guilt and shame
Then the hand of Jesus touched me
And now I am no longer the same."
Words and Music: William J. Gaither

Angels cannot pray to God and call Him "Our Father."
